Wisconsin Poetry Out Loud State Finals To Be Held March 12

Interested poets and poetry lovers are invited to the Poetry Out Loud State Contest Finals to be held at the auditorium of the Chazen Museum on the UW-Madison campus at 12:30 on Saturday, March 12.

The contest will feature three rounds of recitations of poetry from the Poetry Out Loud anthology (www.poetryoutloud.org) by top ranked high school students from five regions across the state. Jim Fleming of Wisconsin Public Radio will host the contest.

The winner will receive $200 and an all expenses-paid trip for her/him and a chaperon to the national finals in Washington, DC., in early May.  Expect impressive recitations as 7 of 10 Wisconsin champs since 2006 have placed in the top 12 at the national finals winning $1000 scholarships.
